Welcome to Sail Club ("we", "our", or "us"). We strictly respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application (the "App") in compliance with Apple's App Store Guidelines and global data protection regulations (GDPR).
2. No Tracking (App Tracking Transparency)
We do not track you.
Sail Club is a 100% free and ad-free platform. We do not collect data to track you across third-party apps and websites for targeted advertising or advertising measurement purposes. We do not use Apple's IDFA (Identifier for Advertisers) or share your data with data brokers.
3. Information We Collect
To provide the core functionality of the App (App Functionality), we collect the following data points:
- Contact Info: Email address and phone number (securely stored for authentication and account recovery).
- Identifiers: User ID and World Sailing ID.
- Location Data: Precise GPS location during active races (detailed in Section 4).
- User Content: Photos (Avatar/Cover), boat details, measurement certificates (IRC/ORC), and direct messages.
- Usage Data: Crash logs and performance data to improve app stability.
4. Location Data Collection and Use
Sail Club collects and uses precise location data (GPS) to enable core racing features such as the Start Assistant, Start Line distance calculations, tactical navigation, and Live Race Tracking.
- Why we collect it: This data is strictly used to provide real-time telemetry, calculate your distance to the marks/start line, and broadcast your live race progress to the committee.
- When we collect it: Location data is accessed only when you actively join a race and enter the racing cockpit screen.
- Data Sharing: We do not sell your location data to third parties. It is securely transmitted to our servers solely for the purpose of race management and live scoring.
5. How We Use Your Information
Your data is strictly used for App Functionality and Account Management:
- To create your dynamic Skipper CV and allow you to register for regattas.
- To facilitate matchmaking between boat owners and crew members.
- To deliver direct messages and push notifications (you can opt-out anytime).
6. Account & Data Deletion
We provide you with the absolute right to delete your account and all associated data directly within the App. By navigating to Profile > Settings (Gear Icon) > Preferences > Close Account, you can permanently erase your Skipper CV, boat garage, messages, and authentication records from our active servers.
7. Third-Party Service Providers
We use enterprise-grade infrastructure to secure your data. Our primary sub-processors include:
- Google (Firebase): For secure authentication, database hosting (Firestore), and crash reporting.
- Meilisearch: For in-app search functionality.
