1. Introduction

Welcome to Sail Club ("we", "our", or "us"). We strictly respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application (the "App") in compliance with Apple's App Store Guidelines and global data protection regulations (GDPR).

3. Information We Collect

To provide the core functionality of the App (App Functionality), we collect the following data points:

• Contact Info: Email address and phone number (securely stored for authentication and account recovery).
• Identifiers: User ID and World Sailing ID.
• Location Data: Precise GPS location during active races (detailed in Section 4).
• User Content: Photos (Avatar/Cover), boat details, measurement certificates (IRC/ORC), direct messages, and team group chat messages.
• Usage Data: Crash logs and performance analytics are collected only with your explicit consent, which is requested when you first open the App. You may change this preference at any time in the App's Privacy Preferences. Without consent, no analytics or crash data is sent.

5. How We Use Your Information

Your data is strictly used for App Functionality and Account Management:

• To create your dynamic Skipper CV and allow you to register for regattas.
• To facilitate matchmaking between boat owners and crew members.
• To deliver direct messages and push notifications (you can opt-out anytime).
• To power optional AI features (the Race Playbook and the Event Assistant): the preferences or questions you type are sent to our AI provider (see Section 7) only to generate the answer you asked for; they are not used to profile you or for advertising.
• To keep a record of your consent: when you accept these documents we store your account, the document accepted, its version (e.g. privacy-policy@2026-08-27) and the time of acceptance, as required to demonstrate compliance with data-protection law (GDPR / KVKK).

We ask for your explicit acceptance of the Terms of Service and this Privacy Policy when you create your account, and again whenever a new version is published. Marketing communications, if offered, require a separate, optional consent that is off by default.

6. Account & Data Deletion

We provide you with the absolute right to delete your account and all associated data directly within the App. By navigating to My Account → Preferences → Account → Delete Account, you can permanently erase your Skipper CV, boat garage, messages, and authentication records from our active servers. If you no longer have access to the App, you can request deletion by e-mail as described on our Data Deletion page.

Sporting records that are part of published regatta results are retained in anonymised form as part of the public race record and are no longer linked to your account after deletion.

7. Third-Party Service Providers

We use enterprise-grade infrastructure to secure your data. Our primary sub-processors include:

• Google Cloud: Application hosting (Cloud Run) and our primary database (PostgreSQL), where your profile, registrations and messages are stored.
• Google (Firebase): Secure authentication, push notifications, real-time race telemetry and crash reporting.
• Google (Gemini / Vertex AI): Generating answers for the optional AI features (Race Playbook, Event Assistant) from the inputs you provide.
• Meilisearch: In-app search functionality.
