Scoring, penalties and discards
A race's Scoring tab is where finishes are entered and results are calculated; the Results page shows the calculated standings.
Entering finishes
Four ways to get finish times into a race, all under the Scoring tab:
- Bulk Entry — type times directly for the fleet.
- CSV Import — upload a finish-time file.
- AI Image Import — read finish times from a photographed finish sheet.
- Import from ORC — paste this race's ORC results page address; see ORC import.
Calculating and publishing
- Enter finishes for the race.
- Recalculate — computes points for this race (and the event's overall standings if calculated). This deletes and redoes any previously calculated points for the race, so re-run it after any finish change.
- Make Official — marks the race's results as final. Importing new finishes over an official result is allowed but requires an explicit acknowledgement, since it changes what the official result rests on.
Penalties
- SCP (scoring penalty) and ZFP (Z-flag penalty) are percentage penalties entered on the finish row itself.
- Non-finish penalties (turns taken, disqualification, etc.) are logged from Race Office → Penalty Log; these don't affect scoring by themselves — to change a score, edit the finish status (SCP/DSQ) here instead.
- DNE (disqualification not excludable) penalties can never be discarded, regardless of your discard rules.
Low point penalty system (A5.2 / A5.3) and discards
Advanced Settings lets you pick how non-finishers are scored:
- Standard — DNC (did not compete) = registered boats + 1.
- A5.3 — DNC = entries + 1; other non-finishers = boats that came to the start + 1.
